At the beginning of the third season, the Sailor Moon S episodes, Sailor Moon is again faced with an even stronger enemy than she has dealt before. In the first episode of this season, episode 90, the new enemy attacks Sailor Mars. Sailor Moon comes to her aid, but the enemy is so strong that Sailor Moon is trapped and her power fades away. This is when Sailors Neptune and Uranus appear on the scene and though they are not there to help the others, it is through their intervention that the battle is won. In the very next episode Tsukino Usagi's friends are under attack by the new enemy and she is not able to transform into Sailor Moon since she lost her power in the previous battle. Usagi herself is attacked when she tries to help her friends even though she can not transform into Sailor Moon. Tuxedo Mask comes to Usagi's aid, but he is seriously wounded. Just when it looks like the Usagi and Tuxedo Mask will be killed, they face eachother and join hands. When the enemy attacks for the final blow a strong energy builds around Usagi and Tuxedo Mask and repels the enemy. Usagi and Tuxedo Mask are transported back to the old Moon Kingdom where they are jointly presented with the Spiral Heart Moon rod and the Spiral Heart Moon Broach. Usagi and Tuxedo Mask reappear at the battle where Usagi transforms and vanquishes the enemy.
